Objective

After getting a considerable expertise during my doctoral study, I’m actually seeking to start my career as a professional researcher. I was working on various issues related to the integration of multimedia services over wireless networks, as will be described in further details subsequently. I’m keen on creating, defining, and setting-up new original and practical ideas. I undoubtedly believe that my formation give me adequate and sufficient preparation to be an effective researcher.

Education

September 2006 - till now: Doctoral student in computer science.

December 2005: Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Monastir, Tunisia.

June 2003: Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Monastir, Tunisia.

Research interests

My research work explores various issues related to the successful integration of packet-based delay-sensitive services such as VoIP, radio station over IP, video conferencing, and audio/video streaming over heterogeneous and emergency mobile networks. For the sake of achievement of large-scale seamless network service convergence, important challenges should be thoroughly addressed and resolved, especially, over highly complex Next-Generation Networks (NGN). Particularly, the provision of a satisfactory Perceived Quality of Service (PQoS) for customers over a MANET is quite complicated given the features of such a network.

Research statement

Basically, my research work aimed at improving the PQoS of VoIP over MANET through the well-engineering of adaptive application-layer control mechanisms. In such a case, the receiver can remove network delay jitter using a de-jittering buffer, which should be smartly managed according to the features of MANETs. Moreover, it may reduce the PQoS degradation caused by missing media packets using a suitable Packet Loss Concealment (PLC) algorithm. On the other hand, the sender may adapt its data rate, protection strategy, and framing technique according to the time-varying available bandwidth and packet loss process. Such application control mechanisms should help providing seamless mobility and service ubiquity. Further, it is highly desirable to evaluate the performance of new proposals to improve PQoS of VoIPoW service at perceptual level, which impels the design of novel assessment methodologies dedicated to wireless systems.
